Vietnam is a great place to travel with children. In this ready made family travel you come to both the capital Hanoi, the mountains of Sapa, the mini cruise in Lan Ha Bay and the beach holiday in Hoi An. We have made a mix of days with content and days you have at your disposal, so the activity level can be adapted to fit exactly your kind of familytravel.

When traveling with children in Vietnam, the accommodation means a little extra. Therefore, in this family trip, we have chosen hotels with a pool or a short way to the beach.

Day 2 Arrival in Hanoi - cyclo tour in Hanoi Sunline Paon Hotel & Spa
When you land at the airport in Hanoi, our driver is ready to take you to the hotel in the heart of Hanoi.

In the middle of the afternoon our guide comes and takes you on cyclotur around Old Quarter's lively narrow streets. You will learn about the lives of the locals and about the streets, which all have names according to the product that is produced or sold on the street in question, it can be sugar, bamboo, leather, silver, etc.

Day 3 To the village Ky Son Moon Garden Stilt House
After breakfast, the trip goes to a smaller village, Ky Son, which is 70 km from Hanoi. In the village you will be staying at Moon Garden Homestay, and you will immediately feel the tranquility and silence that embraces the inhabitants of this part of the Red River delta.

The day offers several activities, both within the homestay framework and in the nearby villages.

Your hosts take good care of you with eg. relaxing herbal bath for the hands, herbal steam bath before supper, cooking school and worship of Buddha.

You also come on a guided bike ride to the historic village of Duong Lam. There is time to look at the markets and hear more about the lives and customs of the premises.

Day 4 Explore Ky Son village Moon Garden Stilt House
Start your day with the traditional Yi Jin Jing exercises before enjoying breakfast in the tranquil surroundings.

The morning walk brings you to the local villagers in Ky Son. You have the opportunity to participate in the farmers' work on the fields, and thus get a better impression of how the Vietnamese cultivate their land. Of course, which crop is in focus depends on the season, but sweet potatoes, cucumber, corn are common foods, but perhaps you can also meet locals who are processing kasava.

The tour also goes past the local kindergarten and the market with fresh fruit and other local foods.

In the afternoon, you can go fishing in the homestay lake or simply enjoy a quiet afternoon in the green surroundings.

Day 5 From Ky Son to the Mountains of Sapa Topas Riverside Lodge
It is now time to drive north towards the mountains and the jungle in Sapa. After eating breakfast and saying goodbye to your hosts, head to the small village of Nam Cang, which is located right in the bottom of the Sapa Valley.
On the outskirts of the village across the river and with the jungle as a backdrop, Topas Riverside Lodge is located. The breakfast you eat at the lodge.

In the afternoon, your guide will take you around the village, whose inhabitants are from the Red Dao minority. On the tour around the city you can see how the locals make rice paper, silver jewelery and embroidery.

Day 6 Explore Nam Cang valley Topas Ecolodge
Enjoy the sound of nature while waking up to a new adventurous day in the Sapa mountains.

Today's hike through the Nam Cang valley takes you past rice fields, water buffaloes, villages and stunning vistas. The substrate alternates between everything from concrete roads to narrow ground edges between rice fields. The trip goes up and downhill and has many places that just fit a picture.

The tour ends just outside the small village of Sin Chai. From here there is a very short drive to Thanh Phu where lunch awaits at a local family. After lunch you will be driven to Topas Ecolodge.

Day 7 Free day at Topas Ecolodge Topas Ecolodge
A walk in the pool, a little easy walk around the lodge or maybe a visit to Sapa?

The day at Topas Ecolodge you yourself advise. And can thus enjoy the peaceful surroundings of the mountain top at your own pace.

If you wish, you can book a half-day excursion on foot or by bike, and visit the local minorities in neighboring villages. Maybe a trip up on Indokina's highest mountain, Fan Si Pan (3143 m) or a visit to Sapa.

Day 8 From the mountains to Hanoi Sunline Paon Hotel & Spa
Most of the day is at your own disposal in and around Topas Ecolodge. Here is great to be, so maybe it's just what you need - enjoy the facilities of the place, the pool with mountain views, the spa department, relax with a book or go around the area where there is plenty to see. If you want a little further around, you have the opportunity to borrow one of the lodge's good mountain bikes.

You can also take the bus to Sapa, the nearest major city and a tourist and local center in the area. It is also possible to take a half-day trip to the highest mountain in Indochina, Mt. Fansipan (3.143 m.h.) with a newly created cable car.

Topas Mountain Express runs from Sapa at. 14 and from Topas Ecolodge at. 15 and will take you directly to the hotel in Hanoi.

Day 9 Cruise in Lan Ha Bay La Pinta
After breakfast, it's time to head for Lan Ha Bay. Lan Ha Bay is the neighboring bay to the more famous and crowded Halong Bay. In Lan Ha you have the same impressive nature, but share the space with fewer people.

You will be driven directly to the sea and the pier, where a smaller boat will take you to the larger ship, which will sail around Lan Ha Bay. The ship will also be your home the next few days, and therefore you get a good introduction to the ship and the safety aboard during the welcome drink.

Along the way to Cat Ba Island, you sail past lots of small islands, through canals and out through the Cat Ba National Park. Hundreds of beautiful limestone cliffs rise up from the sea, birds of prey circles and fishing boats churn back and forth.

After a delectable lunch with everything from the sea, caught right outside, there is a gangway on Cat Ba Island, where a bus takes you to Trung Trang cave in the protected forest in the middle of the island. On a short guided hike in the forest you will be introduced to the national park and the tropical nature.

Then there is the possibility of bathing and kayaking.
Back on the boat, the chefs will introduce you to traditional Vietnamese cooking. Maybe you will learn a few new tricks that can dup home in Denmark…

Dinner is served on board.
After dinner, try the squid fishing or enjoy your free time on the private balcony of your cabin.

Day 10 From Lan Ha to Hoi An Hoi An Garden Villa
It is hard to imagine a more beautiful place to wake up than out here in the middle of Lan Ha Bay. Enjoy the sunrise over the countless islands and take an early morning walk out to a bank where the fishermen are already in full swing. Back on the cruise ship you can enjoy your breakfast.

After breakfast you will be sailed to the Dark and Bright Cave, which you can explore in a smaller bamboo boat.

Back on the boat, lunch is offered while we are slowly approaching land. Photo opportunities are unique and from the boat you have a good look over the beauty of the archipelago.

After landing, a bus drives you to the airport in Hanoi and after a short flight to Danang you meet by our driver who drives you the last short distance to your hotel in Hoi An.

Day 11 Lantern making tour Hoi An Garden Villa
Lanterns are an essential part of the cityscape of Hoi An, and on the day of the walk you will try your hand at the art of making a lantern.

First stop on your guided tour gives you an introduction story behind the lantern, their design and colors.
The locals believe it means luck, happiness and prosperity when hanging the lanterns in front of their houses.

Traditionally, the lantern was made in silk and had more or less the same shape all together. But over time, the craftsmen became more skilled and proficient, and both the forms and the materials developed. As a result, today you can experience lanterns in many colors and shapes hanging around in Hoi An.

With your own lantern as a souvenir you can continue towards lunch. Subsequently, there is a visit to Tra Que village. Here, many different kinds of vegetables are grown, not least the slightly more tasteful of the kind used extensively in the local dishes in Hoi An

Today you are on your own in Hoi An and here is plenty to look at. The old town is intersected by canals and you can find everywhere traces of the many traders who have visited the city for centuries. Portuguese, Dutch, Arab, Chinese, French - everyone has been here and left their mark. With the many interesting buildings from the different eras, it is natural that the city has the status of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Sailors have been shopping here and got their clothes sewn in Hoi An since the city's heyday. The harbor is sandy to-day, but it still teems with good and cheap tailors who sew on purpose and deliver from day to day. Is it in Hoi An you need to renew your wardrobe?
